Windows Messenger, connection manager drop-down list

Vito

Hello,

Sorry for my bad English ...

When several people use WM on the same PC, all the log-ins ( accounts)
are stored somewhere so you can easily pick your log-in from a
drop-down menu to connect.

I now like to clear all these names and only keep mine because I will
now be the only person who's using this PC. I searched the Internet,
the registry and ini-files, but can't find the way to clear all these
log-ins from the menu ....

How can I fix this?
Thanks

..

I tried to solve it like described on
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/allsteps.aspx?ID=2

but this just doesn't work, when I click "remove" nothing happens, the
accounts stay in the list ....
Where are these settings stored? There must be a file somewhere or a
registry key, no?

Greetings Vito,

Are you using the Dutch version of Windows XP? If you are, what you're seeing is a bug
within the Dutch version and as such, the 'Delete' button will do nothing and you will not be
able to remove these. The only thing you can do is completely remove all the Passports and
prevent any from being saved in the future by downloading and running this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/disablenetcreds.reg
Then reboot for the changes to take effect.

To answer your secondary question, no, it's not a registry entry, this data is stored within
your Credentials file, which is encrypted.

Hello Jonathan,

Yep I'm using the Dutch version of XP.

I just downloaded and used that reg file and everything is the way I
want ... no more accounts in the dropdown menu.
Let's be honest, nobody has to know what Hotmail accounts I use :)

Many thanks for your help.

Hey Jonathan,

I answered you before, but to my surprise it seems my reply wasn't
posted. I have no idea why ...
So I do it over again :)

Yes, I use the Dutch XP version.
I downloaded the reg file, executed it and after a reboot the dropdown
menu was empty. Just the way I want it.

Many many thanks for your help.
