Windows MediaPlayer launches at Windows XP startup

S

Steve V.

When I start my computer (Windows XP pro), Windows Media
Player launches automatically. It's not in the Startup
file, and I've looked for all the settings I can find in
Media Player, and even dinked around in the Registry. It
still automatically launches at Windows XP startup. Can
I stop this?
TIA,
Steve

Hmm, this is kind of odd. Try going to Start then Run, type in msconfig and
hit OK. Then switch to the Startup tab. If you see anything odd or anything
that starts up wmplayer.exe uncheck it. Hope that helps you find the
problem, especially since there isn't any particular setting in WMP that
tells it to start up automatically on boot. Does it play anything when it
starts?
