Windows Media Player

Shift Happens

My daughter downloaded Real Player. I checked the file
types in Windows Media Player and made sure that it was
the preferred player for MPEG, MPG, AVI & WMV. But, now
it doesn't work like it used to. I used to be able to
left click on an MPEG on a web page and Windows Media
Player would automatically open up and play the file.
Now it just wants to automatically put it to a temp
file. I know that even when it begins to play it
straight from the web page that it is saving as a temp
file too, but I want to be able to left click and the
file begin playing. Can someone assist me it getting it
working again? Thanks....

Real Player (particularly the default install your daughter
no doubt did) will take over all the default media options
and actually block WMP. I personally hate RP, won't install
any RP on my computer.

You'll need to go into WMP and set it to be default and go
into RP and change a lot of settings manually.
