Windows Media Center Unknown Audio Error on Music in Library

G

Guest

Windows Media Center on Vista Home Premium, When I access my Music library and
when I pick a song or album to play, It gives me a error, "unknown audio
error has occurred 80040155." now video's play fine with there music. CD's
will not play either, I get the same error. Windows Media Player 11 plays
fine for music and videos.

G

Same issue here. only with cd's and library setting get unknown audio and
asks to restart it. Never worked from day one

G

Now I know I'm not the only one having the error, I wonder if anyone will or
would come up with a solution.

Well with no ones help on my thread here, I did fix the problem, Some one
else back in early September had a similar problem, they were directed to
this address,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938928, it was close but not my problem, so
I type in "Windows Media center Audio error" in the serch box took me then to
me to TechNet Forums with others having the same erorr 80040155 and there is
a hot fix that worked great for me.
In Accessories, Right click on Comand Prompt Run as administrator, in the
command prompt, type or paste C:\WINDOWS\system32>regsvr32.exe wmp.dll and
(make sure to put the space in between 32 and wmp)
An info box will appear. Click Ok then restart.
Bingo! it worked,
Thanks to TechNet Forums.

Well with no ones help on my thread here, I did fix the problem,
Some
one
else back in early September had a similar problem, they were
directed
to
this address,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938928, it was close but not my
problem,
so
I type in "Windows Media center Audio error" in the serch box took
me
then
to
me to TechNet Forums with others having the same erorr 80040155 and
there
is
a hot fix that worked great for me.
In Accessories, Right click on Comand Prompt Run as administrator,
in
the
command prompt, type or paste C:\WINDOWS\system32>regsvr32.exe
wmp.dll
and
(make sure to put the space in between 32 and wmp)
An info box will appear. Click Ok then restart.
Bingo! it worked,
Thanks to TechNet Forums.

audio
error has occurred 80040155." now video's play fine with there
music.
CD's
will not play either, I get the same error. Windows Media Player 11

Hi zachd [MSFT],

An Observation;
Prior you mentioned using the "regsvr32wmp.dll" on Vista breaks a number of
things, Since I Edited the register to what you listed, I have not had any
"Host Process has stopped working" Pop up anymore. It did a lot before I did
the RegEdit. Also in the Registry, Before changing To say
"WMP11.AssocFile.ASX", it was ASXfile before, and all were set up that way
with "file" after it.

Which specific subkeys were set to "ASXFile"? I wrote most of the system -
it's simply a bug in wmp.dll that it will register the XP specific prog IDs
there. But registering wmp.dll by hand was never a "supported" scenario,
which is why it slipped through the cracks. I filed a bug on this for the
future. =\

No, that's all I needed, thanks.

Yeah, those are the XP-specific settings. You can *make* those work on
Vista, but it's not a good idea and QFEs/SPs and that sort of thing would
easily put you in a weird state again. Vista should be using
WMP11.AssocFile.* settings for those. This is really important to me since
it really puts everybody on a nice happy association playing field where
you, the end user, get to be the happy king of your domain.

Well with no ones help on my thread here, I did fix the problem, Some
one
else back in early September had a similar problem, they were directed
to
this address,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938928, it was close but not my
problem,
so
I type in "Windows Media center Audio error" in the serch box took me
then
to
me to TechNet Forums with others having the same erorr 80040155 and
there
is
a hot fix that worked great for me.
In Accessories, Right click on Comand Prompt Run as administrator, in
the
command prompt, type or paste C:\WINDOWS\system32>regsvr32.exe wmp.dll
and
(make sure to put the space in between 32 and wmp)
An info box will appear. Click Ok then restart.
Bingo! it worked,
Thanks to TechNet Forums.

Windows Media Center on Vista Home Premium, When I access my Music
library and
when I pick a song or album to play, It gives me a error, "unknown
audio
error has occurred 80040155." now video's play fine with there music.
CD's
will not play either, I get the same error. Windows Media Player 11
plays
fine for music and videos.
