Windows Mail

Hi guys

I have the following problem:

When I first launch windows mail program, I can click on send/receive mail
and my mail sends and downloads OK. However, if I subsequently click on
send/receive (eg after composing a mail or to check for email later) nothing
happens - even if there are items in my outbox to be sent. I have also
noticed that when an email is received/deleted etc, then the relevant folder
is in bold with 1, 2, 3 etc on brackets denoting there is unread mail in that
folder - as normal. However, when I read or delete the emails, I would
expect the font to return to normal and the number in brackets to disappear
but neither happens - it appears as though I have unreal mail in my
inbox/deleted items when I do not.

Can anyone offer an explanation? I dont want to keep closing and re-opening
myh email program just to send/receive mail and update the folder indicators.

Thanks!

This problem is often caused by interference from your
antivirus program. Windows Mail is not compatible with most
McAfee or Norton security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download and
install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

If this does not solve all of your WM problems, I recommend that
you upgrade to Windows Live Mail. It will automatically import
your WM accounts, settings, and emails.

If you have a folder set to Group messages by conversation sometimes
messages will be hidden until you turn that feature off at View | Current
View.
