Windows Mail

I cannot send mail out on my windows mail. When I hit reply or send, it goes
straight to my outbox where it takes up residence. My server says it is
because the email settings are "SSL" and they (the server) are "POP3"
whatever all that means. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have Vista.
Lucky me. Plus, I get that goofy pop up box saying I have mail in my outbox,
would I like to send it? Well...yeah....that's the whole point of hitting the
send button. So, I click yes and guess what? It doesn't send it anyway. I'm
not real savy when it comes to computers, but I do know this isn't working
right! Any help out there?

I have exactly the same problem as you are having nonuthinboutcomps .
Everything was ok on 16 August 2007 but today I just get the emails sitting
in my outbox just as you do. I havent altered any settings in my accounts. I
know what the settings should be and they are all correct. Must be a software
fault perhaps???
Anyone throw any light on the subject?????

I have the same problem, it appears that it's one of the emails that's stuck
in the system.
I was reading the message, left the message open for 'bout an hour, and when
I came back the computer, the message appeared in the out-box. I couldn't
remember having wanted to send a reply, but hey, maybe I did I thought. But
the message is flawed in some way. All future mails I have tried to send just
stack up on top of this first flawed message. I have tried to send myself
some test messages, and the stop in the out-box, but these messages can be
deleted, like they should be, but the first message that is blocking the
drain won't be deleted... what the f...
Help! please....

It seems quite a few people are suffering.. Wonder if it is anything to do
with the update that were put out this week??

1. This problem may be caused by running a non-compatible
antivirus program. Windows Mail is not compatible with most
McAfee or Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled.
Then, at your convenience, install a more compatible antivirus
like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

2. To correct the damage already done, use the Clear Outbox feature
of the WMUtil program:
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil

Gary,
Thank you for your suggestion. I tried the utility but it had no effect. How
odd it seems that quite a few people are having this problem al of a sudden.
I think the problem goes little deeper..

No, the 'message stuck in the Outbox' problem has existed
since Vista was first released.

Anyway, Sentinel, I addressed your issue earlier.

You say the utility had no effect. Can you elaborate on that?
Did it seem to go through the motions, or was it unresponsive?

What about your antivirus?

Hi Gary,
Yes I used the WMUtil and it said it cleared 1 file. I ran it again just now
and it says 0 files cleared. I still have an email in my outbox that i cant
get rid of.... If I try and delete the email, I get an unknown error message
popup..
I already use avast as my virus checker, but switched it off just this
moment to see if it would help matters but it hasnt...

Strange one this...

Were all running instances of Windows Mail stopped?

If Windows Mail is open, or if a current WinMail.exe process is running, the
Database functions are disabled, and the WinMail.exe process must be
terminated before these features can become available. (If WinMail is closed
and these buttons still remain disabled, then perform a CTRL-SHIFT-ESC, and
under Processes find WinMail.exe and click on it, and then click the End
Process button.)

I worked that one out eventually... But when I pressed the 'Clear Outbox'
button, I get an unable to access database error message with a long message
with stuff like:-

System.DINotFoundException: Unable to load DLL'scxout.dll': The specified
module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E) at
WMUtil1.XOut(IntPtr pszLogPath, IntPtr pszName,XoutCallbackProc x) at
WMUtil.frmWMUtil1.btnXOut_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)

I tried Repair Database. Had no errors with that but it still didnt seem to
solve the problem.....

Unable to load DLL'scxout.dll appears when you are not executing
Winmkail.exe from the same folder that includes the the other file
that is downloaded... scxout.dll

As the first line of the web site says...
"Note: The zip file contains two files which must be saved to the same
directory (one can use the Desktop). Then open WMUtil.exe to start the
program."

Slapped wrists.. I didnt read the first line as you have suggested.
So, I have installed both files to the same folder on my desktop. I have now
tried repair database which seems to do something without giving up an error,
but Clear outbox still wont work. I get this message now...

System.BadImageFormatException: An attempt was made to load a program with
an incorrect format. (Exception from HRESULT:0x8007000B) at WMUtil... etc etc
etc...
