Windows Mail/Vista

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron with Vista. My old computer is running
XP with Outlook Express. I have no trouble downloading email from Hughesnet
with Outlook Express using my old computer. I checked and there were no
emails remaining on MyHughesnet.com.

I set up the new computer with the indentical setup but Windows Mail starts
downloading 11,500 emails and it times out and goes back to the beginning
before it completely downloads them.

I have no idea where these emails are coming from. Some are two years old.
They are emails that are addressed to me.

What is going on here, I am puzzled? Do I have some setting wrong or does
Windows Mail have a problem?

Was your old computer set to leave a copy of the messages on the server?
If so, then Windows Mail will try to download them all again.

Windows Mail has no way of knowing that you already downloaded
those old emails previously with a different computer. You should
have either deleted or archived the old emails on the server (via webmail).
