When someone sends an e-mail back to me as a"reply" , my original text comes
back as plain text, any colours 'stitched in' , and formatting, is removed,
also the message is squashed up to the left and only uses half the screen.
How do I set my preferences to see the message as I originally sent it ?

Same thing happens when I 'reply' to someone else. their original message is
treated that way, too.

You are set to read all messages in plain text:
Tools>options>read tab

Set your mail sending format to HTML:
Tools>options>send tab.

Also Disable the option to reply in the same format as etc same place.

HTH?

For receiving, that is not something you have any control over.
The sender apparently is using plain text rather than HTML.

For composing/sending, select HTML format, or allow it to be selected
automatically: Tools, Options, Send, "Reply to messages using the format..."
