Windows loops itself when loading?

On boot up windows xp starts to load then goes to a black screen that asks me
if I want to log in using safe mode, safe mode with comand, safe mode with
cd, last known good configuration, or into windows normally. When I select
any of those options it continues to load but goes back to the same screen.
Any Options?

Choose to start in Safe Mode. Once in Safe Mode, open Event Viewer and
see what went wrong.

There are many causes for this problem, including malware, botched
software installation, incompatible software and use of a registry cleaner.

I pretty much have the same problem as Matt. I went into event view and found
the fpllowing:

I am running XP Pro sepc3 with IX 8
When I start my computer it takes about 5-7 loops before it loads. Sometimes
when I’m not using it, it will shut off and recycle for no apparent reason. I
went into event viewer and checked the following:

System……..No Warnings

IE…….no items to show

Security……no items to show

Applications: About 140 warning symbols………….usernet

Red circle with white cross:

Applications errors………1001, 1000…..about 10

Application Hanging….8

MsInstaller….3

AVG 7……….about 10 No longer use AVG 7…Have upgraded to 8.0

This problem started about 2 months ago about the same time I started to get
malware and adware. Both of these are no longer present and have been
cleaned up.

My question is : can I delete the warnings and application errors that show
in the event viewer, and will that solve my problem?

I posted this problem a little while ago in this newsgroup as well as in XP
General..

the problem is .. how to get to load Safe Mode if when choosing one of the 5
options on that black Safe Mode screen they all revert back to that screen..
never letting you get past the Windows logo screen.. can't get into PC to go
to Event Viewer.. inaccessible..
