Windows log on

I desperatly need some help. I recently moved a PC running XP Professional
from my office to home. It had a windows log on screen (Shift alt delete). I
used the admin password and got access and set up users for myself and my
family. It worked for a while but I must have done something wrong because I
can no longer log on as myself or as the admin. Basically I cannot get into
the PC at all.

Is there some something that I should be doing? Can I bypass this? I am
using the PC as standalone and not connected to the network.

It sounds like you had a domain-connected computer and were possibly using
cached credentials to get in. Best practice for this situation is to wipe
the machine and do a clean-install of Windows unless you expect to take the
machine back to work and want it to remain part of the domain.

you will need on-hand

If for some reason you don't want to clean-install, then you will need to
log on as the local Administrator ("this computer"), create local users,
and then you can change to Workgroup and delete the domain users. If you
don't have the local Administrator password, you can change it to a blank
by using NTpasswd.
