windows log on problems

i updated party poker and it said i needed to restard to
activate the updates. When the computer restarted it went
to the winods og on menu as usual, but once i put in my
password, it brings up mt windows background,
says "loading personal preferencec' and then before it
loads it says " saving personal preferances" and then gos
back to the log on menu. I have tried starting is safe
mode, but it too begins with the windows log on menu. I
have tried loggong on as administrator and the same issue

i just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you to
Michale solomon


I posted this before noticing that several others had the
same issue and i used your recomened fix from another
post and allis well and all my photos are intact ( i just
spent the last week , scanning, sorting, and filing my
photos, including some digital that were only stored on
the computer) Needless to say , I have burned several cd
copies!!!! again Thank you.

Had to use repair install, the first 2 options did not
work, but your directions were excellent!!
