Windows Installer?

When trying to download and install software (updates), the Window Installer
pops up and tells me it can't install the software. I did a file search for
Windows Installer, but it shows no files exist. Should there have been a
file, did mine get deleted someway, should I download and install Windows
Installer?

Try downloading it from here to your desktop, then installing it in safe
mode:

Dumb question I know, but why "try installing in Safe Mode". I would think
that either I need it, or it could be installed as any other app.

Because there are fewer processes running in safe mode that might interfere
with its installation.

You could try it in regular mode forst...I don't see why not.
