I'm not sure if this has been discussed or not on this
newsgroup. You know that "windows installer" that pops up
whenever Microsoft Word starts up? The one on my computer
has gone crazy. Whenever I exit out of a program, the
windows installer pops up and does NOTHING. Pressing
cancel to turn it off does not work, I always use CTRL-ALT-
DEL to turn it off. Is there a solution to my problem? Is
there an update that can fix this?

I tangled with this after reinstalling Win2K and MS Office. I paid for MS
support and the bottom line is that you need to reinstall Windows Installer.
That resets its idea of what version of the various programs you are
running. Get the latest Windows Installer off of
upport.microsoft.com. --Bill
