Windows Installer Service is missing or corrupt

When I try to install applications, I receive the error
message "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
Windows Installer may not be correctly installed or is
missing."

Where do I find Windows Installer for Windows 2000 and how
do I install it?

What you have to do is. Go to command prompt and type:

msiexec /unregister enter then type msiexec /regserver
enter

This should take care of the problem.
