Windows Installer Problem

Hi,

I getting the "windows intaller" window after booting/logon in Win XP
professional slowing down the process. I also found I can't install new
software. Somehow, the window installer is messed up. The only thing I was
able to do is to dissable the intaller within the services administration
tool, but it does not do any good because I won't able to install/remove any
software application. I hate to reinstall windows again because I got a lot
of stuff there. I will appreciate very much any assistance to help me to
solve this problem.

thanks,

Ruben

What component was the installer trying to add/update to the machine ?
Turning off the Service only masks the issue. Only a single instance of
the installer can run at a time - so until you resolve it, you won't be able
to install other software. Have you checked your System Event Log ?,
it should contain information about what is triggering the installer.
Re-installing Windows won't resolve this issue - that's a misconception
that "All" issues are fixable, just by reloading Windows.
