Windows Installer cannot be accessed?

Thomas

Hey everyone,

I've been using xp for awhile now. Suddenly though,
without any cause that I can pinpoint, I can't install
anything. I get messages such as the following whenever I
try to:

"Error: -1601 The Windows Installer Service could not be
accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in
safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly
installed. Contact your ..."

Anyhow, does anyone know how the windows installer service
could corrupt? I don't have the faintest. Is this related
to something clogging up my xp registry?

I'd appreciate any help, thanks so much.

Thomas,

"Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed" Error Message When You Try to Add or Remove a Program:

"The Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed" Error Message When You Install Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP:

Don't bother about the Error code. The steps involve re-registering the MSI
