Windows incorrect about size of "Local Disk"!

Hello,

I have a serious problem here. I tried to install Ubuntu linux and long
story short I didn't like it so I removed it's partitions and then made the
windows partition back to its original size.

I ran CHKDSK /R before and after the partition size changes. Now when I use
Windows, the local disk size shrunk from ~95GB to ~80GB! The partition
Windows is on is ~95GB! How can I make Windows XP reset the hard drive limits
or something, so it is back to 95GB? Also.. Windows got slower overall with
the less space, even after a defrag.

Thanks,
Mark

NOTE: I already tried the repair option from the CD. I would rather not
reinstall XP.

First back up your data...

now you will need to go back to the Ubuntu install
and only go so far as repartitioning your drive back to how it was
originally...

you must delete your linux partitions

then add the free space to your original Windows partition...

otherwise use a 3RD party utility such as partition magic...

at any rate...windows has NO ability to no-destructively repartition!

That's the problem. I >>DID<< resize Windows back to its original size!!

So what means "hard disk shrunk" - the partition size in disk manager
or the disk (volume) size is less than it was before?

Next time you want to play with linux, consider the free VMware player

The PARTITION size is what it should be (~94GB) but Local Disk (VOLUME C) is
at ~80GB.

SOMEONE, PLEASE.. HELP!

I think it's reached the point that nobody has an answer.

If it were my drive I would copy the partition to another drive and
the wipe the original and copy it back.
