Windows Firewall

I have either limited firewall or conectivity on my computer. I believe I
have firewall protection with my Norton Securities 2006. My computer crashed
recently due to what I think was some virus. I had both firewalls working at
that time. Can anyone tell me if I am vulnorable, and if so what is the best
solution.
