Hi guys. I've a new computer (the old one died) with Windows XP Home.
I use the program Nvu 1.0 to publish my webpage/s.
Both my ISP and I are puzzled by something we observed the other day.
With the Windows Firewall running, the webpage wouldn't publish - though
Nvu went through the motions of publishing it and afterwards indicated
'page successfully published' (but then didn't shut down its 'publish
page' box as it normally would). That is, the webpage visible in a
browser remained unchanged. (Yes, we did hit the 'refresh' button.)
Moreover, even when in the Windows Firewall's 'Exceptions' list
(accessible via Control Panel) we entered both the program Nvu itself
and the particular port Nvu uses for publishing to the Web, the
webpage/s still wouldn't publish with Windows Firewall running. But as
soon as we turned Windows Firewall off, there was again no problem in
publishing to the Web.
Any ideas, please?
Thanks - Ken
