Windows File Protection

Debby

All of a sudden I have gotten a screen saying that files
that are running for windows to run properly have been
replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system
stability windows must be restored to the original
versions of these files. Insert XP CD now.

The problem is that when I purchased this computer they
didn't give me the CD.

The error screen keeps coming up and is very annoying.
PLEASE anyone with help?

Since you didn't tell us the make of your computer, it is not possible
to give you specific answers. If this is an OEM machine such as an HP
or Compaq, there is a way to restore your computer. For instance, on HP
machines if you press F10 as the computer is starting, it will get you
into HP's restore program.

Are you able to get into Safe Mode? Last Known Good Configuration? What
changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't? Repost
to this thread with more details.

Hi,

Direct it to the I386 folder on your hard drive, possibly under C:\Windows.
You may need to set folder options to see hidden and system folders in order
to see it.
