Windows Explorer's Edit option crash when invoked via Start button

Windows 2000 SP4 with Metaframe XP and a large number of third-party
applications and utilities such as FTP, Treesize Pro...

Invoking Windows Explorer by right-clicking Start button then clicking Edit
in the toolbar resulted in a consistent application crash for Explorer
process. The Application Error popup window showed "...the instruction at
0x7c57992a referenced memory at 0x00040077. The memory could not be read..."

DRWTSN32 showed the crash was occurring at

Function: CompareStringW
FAULT ->7c57992a 668b02 mov ax,[edx]

This problem happened to *non-Administrator* accounts only, and did not
happen to other methods of invoking Explorer such as right-clicking
MyComputer or DOS command

Clicking other options on the Windows Explorer Toolbar: View,
Favorites,Tools.. did not result in application crash, only happening to Edit
option.

This problem happens to both ICA clients and RDP clients using
*non-Administrator* accounts.

Present on the Start button when right-clicking are 2 external utilities (in
addition to Windows' Open/Explore/Search/Open All Users/Explore All Users),
one of which is Treesize Pro. Again clicking it did not produce any
application crash

Browsing the hive below and found nothing untowards in it
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders"

Why the difference in behaviour of Explorer when invoked by different methods?

Thanks for any help

It was found out Seagull FTP and shell intergration component were in some
conflict. Disabling the integration has eliminated the crash
