Go to Control Panel (Classic view) > Problem Reports and Solutions > "View
problem history" > right click on a problem and select "View problem details" >
use the "Copy to clipboard" link in the lower left of the Details window and
paste into a reply to this thread.

Hi !
New here.
I've got the same problem in Control panel, but I can't select anything
before getting the messages "Explorer problem", "Explorer searching" and
"Explorer restarting".
I remember this started after I switched to "Classic view".
Now I managed to switch back to "Start page" (Danish version), but it the
same problem never the less ...
It's not possible to get any "Problem Reports" before the windows closes.
What now ?

Is heshell.dll (HHD Software's Hex Editor) on your system? Why? What do
they say about this? It looks like this is a pretty common crash, which
implies that there's probably a bug they would want to look at.

Thanks very much Zachd, this appears to have fixed my issues - I did have
HHD Hex Editor installed. Only a short time test, but usually by now, I
would have had an Explorer shut down (or a few even).

When you had it installed, what did you specifically do that caused this?
That'd be interesting since it could provide the data needed to reproduce
the issue and maybe get them to fix it, which would help everyone else
afflicted. =)

I am not aware of anything particular with regard to HHD Hex Editor. I
installed it a few weeks ago to enable me to edit a couple of files and just
left it installed. I had not actually used the Hex Editor in the past (say)
4 weeks. Also, I wasn't aware that my Windows Explorer issues coincided with
the installation of the Hex Editor either - I seem to think the Windows
Explorer issues started a wee while after I used Hex Editor. Sorry I can't
be more helpful.

I have similar problem....windows explorer shuts down and refers me to KB
938979 and every time I open Control Panel. Have already dowloaded every
Vista update possible. I think the problem began when I installed iVideoToGo
Platinum (which locked up and would never work even Vista patch loaded) but
not certain. Deinstalled iVideo but still have the problem....

What's your specific fault data from the Problem Reports and Solutions
center?
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket
can help you look this up if you don't know how.

Since even a single character difference in that data can mean something
entirely different, it's probably not the same exact problem, and thus
*your* specific data would be needed to maybe figure out a solution. =)

I have tried to download the kb file several times only to find a message
saying this file is not suitable for this system, I am using Ultimate and
have all the latest updates. I have checked the solutions in the Problem and
solutions but I have tried in nsearch to find the file stated but without
success can you assist?
Thanks

What specific file is it stating for you that you're looking for?

What's the file version of Shell32.dll on your system?
