windows explorer wierd filename sort

how can i make the windows explorer sort filenames in a "proper" sort order? i don't know what it's trying to do, but i like to see 1 followed by 2 followed by 3 followed by etc.... and also is there anyway to enable a view/sort of the actual extension, all the characters after the last '.' - makes it kinda hard to sort mp3 from wav files...

Hi Mike,

Change the Sort Order Back to W2K Style (Line 107)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

By default XP treats any sequence of digits as being a numeric value,
and sorts using that as a unit - so 19 comes before 20 before 111

Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP
SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP
Its Explorer page, uncheck 'Use intuitive file name sorting' (at the
bottom of the list)
