In search for a Trojan Horse to delete if find that the directory my virus program shows it to be in, does not show on my File Managers. In the process I discovered that there are other folders not displayed even though I have checked "Show Hidden Files". Even stranger, When I search for the folder in the XP "search" function, it finds the folder, but still it seems not to exist on Windows Explorer. What can I do to be able to see all fles and folders and manage them

The virus program finds the Trojan Horse, but while it deletes others, it says it can not read this file. I can't delete the Trojan file if I can not get at it. I have tried everything. Can someone please help me

Where is your av program finding it?
Having show hidden files set doesn't show all files. There's another setting
that you have to uncheck: hide protected operating system files.

What is the trojan's name? What antivirus are you using? Are you running
the antivirus and/or repair tools in Safe Mode? Have you turned off
System Restore first? Post back with more details if you want more
help.

Have Folder Options - View set to show Hidden files, and *not* Hide
Protected mode ones

It is probably in a folder under System Volume Information. That holds
the restore points,, and the trojan is in one made while it was still
around. It can do no harm unless you restore to that point. So wait
for a new point to be made (or make one manually at
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore)
then run
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup
and in More Options take the one to delete all but the most recent
restore point - the trojan will go with the point containing it

Don't try to do anything with the content of that folder manually,
unless you are going to start SR over by disabling it in System - System
restore and rebooting - then delete all the content of the folder before
you start SR up again
