"Windows Explorer Not Responding"

When I start up my computer I recieve an error message that says "Windows
Explorer is not responding" then a second message that it is looking for a
solution then its restarts windows explorer and it repeats its self over and
over. I don't know what to do and I've read other post but nothing seems to
help me out. I did notice that when this problem started two new icons popped
up on my desktop and a toolbar on my internet explorer called security
toolbar 7.1. I've read other post but nothing seems to have helped.

I have the same problem, except I don't get any extra icons. I've restarted
and run anti virus programs to make sure there isn't a virus nothing causing
this but it always finds nothing.

I would look under programs to see if there is something installed, and check
your startup through msconfig. I havent heard of "security toolbar" sounds
like spyware or some type of invasive app. I would also look on symantic
website to see if any new threat has been noticed with these symptoms.

From the little I've read this is a very dangerous piece of software. It
warns you of infections and then offers links to "spyware" programs. I
forget the name right now
but if you buy the recommended product, it will "clean" the toobar. Scam
scam scam. I found a site with a manual removal process and it is not a
easy task. Plus, I dont know if the site is legit. Do searches for "security
toolbar 7.1". Go in a few pages. Also go to pctool, adware, etc are search
on the website.(The idea is to find a ref to it on a legitimate site)

Your UAC may be trying to stop the program from running and it could be
causing the explorer restart you are describing.

I doubt it. Windows Explorer under XP and before that has ALWAYS hung
up ending up displaying the "not responding" message, often rebuilding
your desktop icons or doing other moronic things that I doubt even
Microsoft's own software engineers know why or you would think they
would have fixed it by now. They haven't. Been broke for at least 10
years.

Sorry again..I must be braindead today..all the nonsense about Paris is
driving me nuts..While this site purports to offer instructions for toolbar
removal, it also
offers a spyware product I never heard of...SPYNOMORE. that claims to
remove the toolbar. After reading a few search hits, spynomore is
seemingl the only product that removes this thing. With all the spyware
products out there, its a
little strange to me that none of the "top 10" can even find it. Something
smells, and if you use the manual
removal process I would suggest doing it with care.

I've tried everything you have suggested but I don't think it is a virus, I
don't get any popups or anything like that and I have looked at all of my
processes and they all seam to check out. Any other suggestions?

Hmmm this is strange after a week of this happening my Live One Care had
enough time between the resets and deleted the trojan. It was called Trojan
Downloader: Win32/Renos. Thanks for the help but i guess my computer fixed
itself.

I too had the same thing happen...started yesterday. I scanned with
everything I had but nothing was found. Then, when I was just about ready
to reinstall Ultimate I checked startup and found System32YCRC Agent. I
googled but couldnt find a thing on it. I turned off in startup and haven't
had Explorer problem again.
Dont know if this would help anyone else...but it did for me. Weird.

This is an issue with the Operating System and has got nothing to do with the
Tool Bar which has been installed. The Tool bar might be a Spyware but that
is not causing this issue. Try to check if you get the same issue in a
different User Account. If you do not get, then the User Account has got
corrupted, if you still get the same error, then boot the system to the
Windows Advanced Options by tapping the F8 key when you restart, select
Repair my computer and then select the Start up Repair Option. This should
fix the issue
