Windows Explorer Hangs

When right clicking on any file in explorer my explorer session hangs, task
manager gives me a Not Responding message when i look at the status of the
job. The processor or memory are not doing anything. This has just started to
happen, no new software has been installed, i have virus checking running,
have run adaware, have a hardware firewall on the adsl connection. Any
Ideas???

I would run disk defragmentor to clean up defragmentaion that affects windows
explorer response time.

Defragging isn't going to solve this problem. Try looking at what
programs you have in the right-click context menu. A free program to
make this easy is ShellExtView, which you can get here:

Try disabling the menu entries, one at a time and testing afterwards to
see if that helps.

thanks, i have down loaded the software, disabled all context menus and
right click is ok now, tonight i will enable them one at a time to find the
culprit.

I'm glad you got it sorted, and I appreciate your letting me know. Have
the beer yourself and enjoy!
