Windows Explorer file view

Is it possible to have a default view of files as "detail" and about 50
selected folders as "icon" view?
I tried, but couldn't get more than 6 selected folders in "icon" view.
I set a 7th folder to "icon" view, but when I exit and renter that
folder I see it in "detail" view again.
Any suggestion please?

Do you have Remember each folder's settings checked in Tools | Folder
Options | View?

Yes it is checked.
But... I unchecked it just for testing ... and now all following folders
will be seen according to the new setting. And when I go back to the
previous folder it still remembers my setting. This would be the
solution to my problem but when I close Windows Explorer and reopen it I
have them again as before (in detail view)
When I check the "Remember setting" switch again I will see all folders
in detail view and they forget all my settings when I close and reopen
the folder.
I remember that before I had to reinstall my Win2K (due to a faulty RAM)
Windows Explorer had a completely different behaviour.
