Windows Explorer File Search Query History

All of the file searches that I have done remain in "drop-
down" form in the Windows Explorer "Search for files
folders named" box when doing a search. I would like to
get rid of these and have been told that there is a
setting in the Registry for this. I have looked for
a .fnd file on my system in the event that I may have done
a save on the search but did not locate one.

Delete the alpha-named Reg_Sz string values found in
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU
or
Settings|TaskBar|Start Menu Programs|Clear

These are probably the keys you want. Delete the previous search entries in the
right pane:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer
Bars\{C4EE31F3-4768-11D2-BE5C-00A0C9A83DA1}\ComputerNameMRU

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer
Bars\{C4EE31F3-4768-11D2-BE5C-00A0C9A83DA1}\ContainingTextMRU

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer
Bars\{C4EE31F3-4768-11D2-BE5C-00A0C9A83DA1}\FilesNamedMRU
