Windows Explorer Error & Cookie Problem

G

Guest

I have 2 problems.

First, when I turn my computer on, before my desktop has even fully loaded I
get this windows explorer error message with the Send error report/Don't send
error report options. I'm not sure what's causing it, any suggestions?

And second, i always stay logged into certain webpages because I'm the only
person who uses my computer. But lately (over the past 2 weeks or so)
Everytime I shut down my computer and turn it back on I have to re-login to
every site I use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks, very much

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in the System and
Application logs for when the error occurs and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.

The Administrative Tools is not on the Start Menu by default. Look in the
Control Panel in Classic View for the Administartive Tools.

This ACPI BIOS event error does not seem to be related to the Cookies
problem.

I would suggest a BIOS upgrade for your computer. BIOS updates can be found
at the computer/motherboard manufacturer's web site.

Note: There are SEVERE risks involved when updating the BIOS. Please read
the manufacture's warning about BIOS updates before proceeding.

Does this only happen on a reboot?
Do you have CCleaner installed or a Third party cleaner installed?

As William suggests you need to update the BIOS.

Use Everest to get details of your BIOS

This freeware programme is excellent for getting information
about your computer:
Everest Home Edition (freeware)

Tip: To copy select Report, Quick Report, Plain Text, highlight
required text, right click and select copy. However, whilst this
is fine for posting small amounts of information into newsgroup
messages longer reports will irritate other newsgroup
subscribers.

Well I'm not sure really =/ I have Ad-Aware and SpyBot.. And actually, this
didn't start happening until I used an online scan at www.ewido.net But a
friend of mine did the same online scan and they aren't having any problems.
Also I emailed ewido support and they suggested I download HijackThis and
send them the log file, I did and they told me what to delete, but it's still
happening.. So I'm really not sure what it is

I know Ad-Aware and Spybot will scan for certain cookies and ask you if you
want to delete the cookies.

When you are logged in these web page, are the web pages listed as a
restricted site? There should be an icon in the Status bar (located on the
bottom) of Internet Explorer indication the web site is restricted.

Also, in the Internet Options "Privacy options" there is an option to block
cookies but always allow session cookies and this might be enabled.

Also you might want to ask your cookie question/problem in the Internet
Explorer 6 group.
