windows explorer crashes :(

hi
i bought a Compaq Laptop with AMD Turion 64 pre-installed with windows vista
home basic.
my windows explorer crashes very often.
generally if he lapton has not been shut down for more than a day i.e.
either it has been on for a ay or it has been hibernating, windows explorer
crashes.
the screen starts to blink and the taskbar makes a mirror image at the top.
if i press the show desktop key the screen flashes images of all open
programes, and the desktop does not show any wallpaper.
if i manually maximise and then minimize all open programes and then right
click once on the desktop, this problem seems to be stable, as in the
flickering stops but the taskbar vanishes. on cliking the taskbar it shows
itself but the battery status doesnt come. the problem finishes only if i
restart.
if i manually end windows explorer from task manager, i am unable to restart
it.
can anyone tell me the possible problem and its solution
thanks

Hi,

Check with Compaq for an updated display driver first, that's the most
likely cause. It could also be that one of the applications you regularly
use is corrupting the explorer shell. It may help to vary what you use to
see if you can associate the problem with one particular application. A
third possibility is overheating causing a hardware fault, make sure that
fan openings are not blocked even when hibernating. You might also want to
check for motherboard updates as the chipset and the system's control of fan
use may benefit from one.

Window Explorer crashes is a "feature" of Vista, an integral part of its
sophisticated user friendly "smart" software services working in the
background do take care of you.

Because modern computers with 2 or 4 cores are too fast for humans to
control, MS has now included the WECES, (Windows, Explorer, Crash, Event,
Service) that monitors your every move, and at the worst time it crashes..

Vista SUCKS! GET RID OF IT!

Vista has nothing useful or constructive to add either!

So must I repeat?

That should be etched in gold and put in every major city! Now I call
that constructive! Saving lives from the terror called vista

I don't know this will apply to everyone but I had continued problems with
Windows explorer and Internet Explorer crashing and restarting. I could not
find anything in the discussion groups to help me, so "in a flash of
brilliance" (desperation I suppose to be the better word) I went into
Internet Explorer tools and disabled almost all of the add-ons. To my
surprise and delight it is now 24 hours and I have not had a single 'Windows
explorer has stopped working" and "Internet explorer has stopped working".
So, I am posting this in case some of you will also be lucky enough to get
the response that I did by disabling the add-ons. I left only the Microsoft
add-ons and then only the ones that I thought were absolutely necessary.
I'll be interested to hear if anyone benefits from this.
