In Windows XP, I networked my laptop and desktop so that
I can move files back and forth by using a crossover
cable.
The connection works fine. However, Windows Explorer
closes or crashes when (on my laptop) I go to "My Network
Places" > "Shared Docs on SJ's laptop" and try to open
the Shared Docs' subfolders ("Shared Music", "Shared
Pictures"). This doesn't happen if (on the same computer)
I go to C:\, choose the "Shared Documents" folder and
open its subfolders. It also doesn't happen if I go
to "My Network Places" and open the Shared Docs'
subfolders from the other computer (desktop). In other
words, the subfolders don't appear corrupted, but there
is something wrong with how my laptop's My Network Places
opens them.
