windows explorer annoyance

Guest

I have some very annoying two problems with my Explorer. I have W2K Pro SP4
machine and when I highlight folder in Explorer window, open it and then go
back using "back" command my highlighte folder is out of view and goes
exactly three lines up.
Also, when I open any folder first time since starting windows and then open
another folder in it, both, this opened folder and whole desktop, refresh.

I don't know if it two different problems or two symptoms of one problem.

Help!!!

Something that was installed doesn't play well with Windows Explorer. If you
can't find the root cause then you're probably looking at doing a clean
install.

Clean install = start over. To do a clean install, either boot the Windows
2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of four install disks can be
created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on
the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit)
and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Be sure to apply these to your new install before connecting to any network.

When you eventually are finished doing the chore, which must be done some time,
get with it and buy Acronis and use that as a backup. It will save you all the
time of re-building. The re-build is a punishment for not having a backup, MS or
Acronis and Acronis just makes it easier still!
