Windows Experience Rating

The windows experience rating for my machine is 1.0! It is being dragged
down by my video card, a Sapphire X1950 Pro with 512MB. The graphics and
gaming subscore is 1.0. I thought it might be problems with this video card
and I pulled it out and installed an ATI Radeon 850XL with 256MB - same
score. I tried the ATI latest drivers and earlier drivers, no change.

Everything seems to be working fine. The only thing I can see is an
exclamation mark, "! New hardware detected, your Windows Experience Index
needs to be refreshed" No matter how many time I refresh this index, I keep
getting this message.

This is obviously a problem with Vista and not with the video card. Is
there a way to correct this problem?

The Windows Experience Index rating may inherit an incorrect value
after you make a change to your computer's hardware configuration:

It sounds like the video card is not being recognised properly. Try updating
the chipset driver for your motherboard then reinstall the graphic driver.

It is a problem with the graphics driver. Download updated drivers from
manufacturers website.

That might be the problem, the motherboard manufacturing ABit nor Nvidia has
any drivers for Vista. :-(

This motherboard is in the "archive" section. :-( It used to be state of
the art once upon a time.

I did try the latest driver from ATI and besides being buggy, it did no
change anything.

Thanks everyone, I will just ignore the Windows Experience Rating.

Sadly not for my board - legacy nforce 1/2 series and when you set the
operating system to Vista, nothing is found.

Unfortunately NVidia decided not to support that chipset in Vista.

Well, you are not alone....
I also have the identical problem that you are experiencing (pun: windows
experience rating). I am using 2 ati 2900xt GPU's in crossfire mode, and for
all the money I spent on this system (Intel QX9650 Extreme, 2 gig DDR3 10666
memory, ASUS Maximus Extreme motherboard, 1TB HD, and 1 160GB, 10,000 RPM HD)
I would like to thing that this friggin rating thing would give me more than
1.0. And yes, like you it keeps telling me that it's still unrated and needs
to be refreshed. My graphics, and my gaming graphics rating is 1.0 and
everything else 5.9. Now I know why my kids tell me to give it up and buy a
PS3!
