Windows error messages

Thomas Futch

For the past two days I have been recieving an error
message when I try to open up certain applications such as
IE and a few others. Whatever is causing this will not even
allow me to use System Restore. The error message reads
"(name of application) has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconveience". When I click
on the details option it says that it is sending a file
named
"C:\DOCUME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER17.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt".
The number after "WER" changes to a different number
depending on the application that am trying to use. I have
tried everything I can think of to fix the problem and can
not so please help me.

It would see likely that you have installed in incompatible program. Are you into gaming? What might you have installed immediately before the problem started. The solution is to uninstall the incompatible program.

Have you looked at the error messages in the Application and System sections of Event Viewer. Make a note of the precise text of any error message. You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event ID: and Source Description are important.

Post details of the Error Report and we can see if we are able to help.

Hope this helps.
