error message that reds " The drive is not ready for use;its door may be
open. Please check drive A: and make sure thet a disk is inserted and that
the drive door is closed.

How do I find out what proccess or program is causing this and fix it.

Have you checked to see if the cabling is correct? Open the computer case
and see if the cable has fallen off the floppy drive. Beyond that, your
drive may have died and is reporting an error (or seems as if it isn't there
to the OS).

Something that you have running in the background is attempting to
access drive A: when the computer shuts down.

Do you normally use drive A: for backing up or transferring data
files? Some antivirus programs have built-in functions to check
active drives at shutdown and startup, and this may be the cause. What
antivirus & antispyware software are you using?

Good luck

Like the message says...you removed the diskette before Windows was
finished with it. Try the easy fix first: put the diskette back in the
drive and close Windows.

I have checked all the cables and the power supply and everything is plugged
in. I also put a disk in to see if I could see the files on it and I can.
As for inserting the disk it is asking for I was not using or installing
anything off a disk nor was I doing anything that would require a disk in
the drive so I can't just put the disk in that it is asking for.

I am using nod32 antivirus. I can't see any settings that scan the floppy
on shut down.

Ian try running a scan on your hard ware A:drive and see if a driver need to
be updated or uninstalled than reinstalled. Right clik MY Computer Manage,
system Devices right click on a:drive and properties Check for updates or
driver updates.
