basically ive never had one like this before, im not a
novice user and i generally know whats wrong. but this
time i have no clue, basically windows starts to load, but
before the little scroling green bar comes on the screen,
it locks up.

i cant enter if safe mode
i cant re-install windows because it says setup cannot be
run in dos mode
last good known config gives me the same error

i dont even get an error message to work on... over the
last 2 days these are the things i have done that could
affect it...

installed a sb audigy 2
changed the ACPI uniprocessor PC setting to advanced
configuration and power interface (ACPI) (creative said do
that, obdviously never listen to creative)

thanks in advance

Hi Matt,

First, something to try:
Turn off the computer and unplug it from the wall for about 1 minute.
Plug it back in and restart. You might be surprised how many things
this will fix.

Next some questions:
You say the computer locks up just before the loader screen appears?
What's on the screen when it locks up? Does it by chance say
something about verifying the DMI pool in the lower left of the
screen? If so, try taking out the new card and clearing your CMOS.

Good luck.
