windows does not start up

please help! my windows stucked on blue screen with windows xp prof logo and
message 'windows starting up...' and nothing else is happening. I run on xp
proffesional and never had this problem before. I have tried to switch it off
and on just by pressing a button a few times but still as soon as it gets to
that screen it sort of frozes. what should I do?

wish i could give the answer to this one and wish it was a simple one-step
solution, but the fact is i came on here right now because of the same exact
problem. mine started two days ago after the GEEK SQUAD guy went in there to
make it so i didnt have to chose a user and enter a password every time i
started the computer. perfect for me..... i hope one of our LEGIT WINDOWS
experts can give you and now me a solution that we can pull off.
