Windows Desktop

In Windows XP, you were able to go through a process of steps to embedd
something on your desktop. (the process is "right click on desktop ->
properties -> desktop tab ->customize desktop button -> web tab -> new
button -> enter url").

I am wondering how to do this same process with windows vista, if it is even
possiable with windows vista.

If anyone can help me with this matter, your help will be greatly
appreciated, thanks.

What I've learned from this newsgroup and others is that the functionality
of which you speak has been removed from Vista as a security issue. Anyone
else correct me if I'm wrong.\

You're referring to what used to be called Active Desktop, right?

The only remnant of that kind of "push technology" are some of the Sidebar
gadgets, I believe.

As DP rightly noted, Microsoft removed Active Desktop, not necessarily as a
security precaution, but not one was really using it. Most of its core
functionality can now be found in the Sidebar Gadgets with features such as
Weather, RSS Feeds and more types of web enabled gadgets.
