Windows Desktop Search

I am completely lost right now with this feature...

I currently am using the IE7 Beta 3 with the New Fully Launched Windows Live
Toolbar, the question I have is what is the WDS supposed to do? It will
search anything web related but it will not reference any items on my
computer.

Am I missing something?!?! I remember when I had the MSN Search Toolbar it
access from the taskbar too, but no longer have that on my computer.

Can anyone help?
