Windows Delayed Write Failed

I keep randomly getting the following error message;
Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
drive_letter:\file_path\file_name. The data has been lost. This error may be
caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please
try to save this file elsewhere.

The file path varies and the message can come frequently or less often with
no pattern.
I have tested the hard drive with the manufacturer's test utility and it is
working correctly.
None of the knowledge base solutions either apply or seem to sort this
problem.
System details;
AMD Athlon XP2400+ 2000 MHz
L2 Cache 256Kb
Memory 512MB (63% used)
Mother board ASUSTek A7N8x-X
Video card NVIDA Ge Force FX 5600XT

Any solutions?
