Windows Defender Update KB915597 Failed to Install !

I have just attempted to install Windows Defender Update KB915597
several times and I keep getting the message :-

"this Update failed to Install"

This is the first time this has ever happened to me - can anyone
explain this ?

Try this workaround:

1. Remove the current signature file. To do this, click Start, click Run, type
Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}
and then click OK.
2. Open Windows Defender. To do this, click Start, click Programs,
and then click Windows Defender.
3. Check for new definitions. To do this, click the Help options arrow next
to the Windows Defender Help icon, click About Windows Defender, and
then click Check for Updates.

This worked for me. Remove Windows Defender in Add/Remove programs. Down
load a new version from
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
Install and get updates.
Problem solved!

Hope you are doing this on a test machine, as running beta software in a
production environment or on your primary use machine can be a BIG mistake!
