Windows Defender on System Tray

Not sure if this is the correct forum or not, but we are setting the Windows
Defender Tools/Options setting to Always be on the System Tray (as opposed to
only showing up when detects action to take), but for some reason the little
icon will not show up on the System Tray. We have tried to uninstall and
reinstall Windows Defender, but after rebooting once the WinDefender systray
icon disappears again. Not sure if this is a corrupt WinDefender install or
a systray issue. TIA for any help on this one to keep that icon loaded on
the systray...

What version are you using ? Version 1.1.1593.0 doesn't use a
persistent icon in the System Tray or have options to do so.

Did you configure the Windows taskbar to hide inactive icons? Did you
click the left-pointing chevron icon at the left of the system
notification area (aka system tray) to see the hidden icons?

Hi, we are not hiding inactive icons. There is no left arrow to click on (ie
no hidden icons to display). When we first uninstall and reinstall
WinDefender and check the option to Always show on taskbar it will show-up
okay the first time. After rebooting, however, it will not show up anymore
(even after putting the Always option back to 'only when active detection'
and then back to Always). So it is kind of funny. We have also done several
full antivirus and antispyware checks with several different utilities (some
in safe mode) and the machine appears clean.
