Windows Defender - how to lower priority and/or pause it?

Dave M

This post is a result of my miserable failure to attempt a X-post from the
Security for Home Users newsgroup, so instead I'm just creating a new
thread here ...sigh .
Gerry;

This link should get you up to speed on the built-in Administrator account
and how to have it displayed at the welcome screen. Sorry about my previous
assumptions, I should have asked what Operating System (for instance XP
Home
or Pro) you're running before getting into it this far:

We really should take this thread to the Defender General newsgroup and
I'll
pick it up there, as this has gotten too far removed from the general home
security topic here. I'll try to X-post it over there, thanks. :blush:)

All,

This question still has not been answered,
Would I need to login differently every time I run winDefend ? Can I
set it
permanently instead of each time it runs ?

Any direction on how to drop Windows Defender priority for all time?

Hello SouthernCross;

Are you also GerryP777, the Original Poster in this thread? What Operating
System (for instance XP Home or Pro) are you running ? That makes a
difference in how you would temporarily reset Defender's priority.
