windows defender failing to initialize

I own an HP Pavilion dv52222nr notebook, designed for windows XP. Every time
i turn my computer on since yesterday i get a message saying : "application
failed to initialize: x800 16ba. A problem caused Windows Defender Service to
stop. To start the service, restart your computer or search Help and Support
on how to start a service manually." I restarted my computer and searched
Help and Support and I cannot find info on what is wrong. I have tried to do
a system restore back to what happened and even re-install the programs I
deleted but I did something wrong. Help! Thank you.

Did you download and install the latest version (non-expired) of Windows
Defender?

I have a Dell Inspiron 600m. I recently installed an HP Photosmart
8250 and I now receive the Windows Defender failed to initialize on
startup. I've re-booted by computer, and various other suggestions
offered by the Help & Support Center with no luck. Any
suggestions. It looks to be a compatibility issue.

Please do not hijack other threads in the future.

Uninstall Windows Defender.
Reboot.
Download and install the latest version of Windows Defender.
