Windows Contacts Location

I changed the location of the Contacts folder but when I open
contacts it continues to open to the original location according
to the navigation pane. The location bar at the top indicates:
<username> Contacts.
The contacts folder has been moved to the new
location 'cause I can see it in explorer.
Is this normal?

How did you move your folder initially? If by Drag and Drop or Cut and
Paste, your registry won't have the correct information. I would try this:
Move the folder manually back under C:\Users\(Your User Name). Then
right-click on the Contacts folders, choose Properties, and, on the Location
tab, choose "Restore Default". Then do the same again, only choose
"Move..." on the Location tab, and move the Contacts folder via the Select a
Destination dialog to where you want it.

Ooops. That should be "right-click on the Contacts folder" (singular
"folder", not plural).

When I moved my Contacts folder a little while ago, by using the Location
tab, Windows Mail's Contacts button in the toolbar opened the folder in the
location that I moved it to, with the new path in the address bar. I did
notice that a new hidden Junction, called "Contacts", was put in the default
location, to redirect programs that expect the Contacts folder to be under
C:\Users\(Your User Name). But trying to open that Junction will give you
an "Access Denied" dialog.

When you type "shell:contacts" (no quotation marks), in the Start Search box
of the Start Menu, and click on the result, what is the path (location) of
the Contacts folder?

Are there contact files in C:\Users\(Your User Name)\Contacts? If so, do
they mirror those in the location you moved them to?

In the Registry, selecting this key,

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

in the right pane, what does the Value Name
{56784854-C6CB-462B-8169-88E350ACB882} have for Value Data?

The path in my address bar is <username>\Contacts The folder
pane on the left "highlights" the folder under <username>\Contact.
The path to the place I moved it to and the place the folder shows as the
location
is c:\Data Files\Contacts I see this path nowhere.
This is one thing that annoys me about Vista. It's so difficult
to find a certain folder 'cause one has no idea what Vista will
display because it caters to older programs or programs that
will only look in one place for, say Contacts.
In fact, I'm going crazy here trying to explain this.
I'll just move it back and hope for the best.
