Windows can not load administrator profile

Bea

Yesterday 9/26 I uninstalled my webroot spyware. Then restarted laptop.
When I logged on (administrator account) I got this message, "windows
cannot load the users profile but has logged you on with the default
profile".

I can not acces my desktop, and all the documents. I tried to use Restore
system, it doesn't work. I used to be able to do system restore.

I can't do any download, or send email using that laptop. Because it said
that I don't have administrator privilege.

Please help all my work related documents are in that laptop.

First try logging in as administrator in Safe Mode (try a blank
password).

If that doesn't work, you can boot the machine from one of the free
Live Linux CDs (such as Knoppix) and back up your data.

Thank you John for responding.

When you say: " First try logging in as administrator in Safe Mode (try a
blank
password)." Do I type "blank password" as password?

Thank you much.

Bob,

Once I am able to log on the administrator account with the blank password,
will I be able then to access all my documents, desktop, etc that is
associated on my administrator profile?

You should be able to, as long as you didn't encrypt anything. You may
have to take ownership, but as administrator, you have that authority.

BTW, please disable your sigline separator, as when the command is
observed, it removes all quoted material.

Bob, I really can't thank you enough for helping me out.

Now, I have Windows XP Media Center Edition, when I save my documents I
don't do anything other than the reqular way of saving it. Does this mean
that my documents, and everything else is not encrypted?

Last year, when I accidentally deleted the document folder and emptied the
recyle bin, I used a recovery software. But all the documents recovered are
unreadable.
Does that mean it was encrypted?

Thanks for your patience.

Yes, if you set the containing folder to encrypt the contents, then the
encryption is not "obvious" during your normal usage, as it is
maintained by the operating system for you. But IF you attempt to bypass
the operating system, you will get garbage. Normally I recommend that
"encryption" not be used. Many folks neglect to set up the file recovery
agent and backups, so the first time something happens to their profile,
"poof" everything is gone, and no hope of recovery.

Hi Kelly, it's been a week now still trying to make my laptop work normally.
I was able to access the folders of the corrupted profile, and copy them to
another user. However, everytime I turn it on, I still get the same message
" "windows
cannot load the users profile but has logged you on with the default
profile". Detail "The system can not find the file specified."

Then I have to log on in safe made. I was trying to download the webroot
anti spyware and virus, after a few minutes of trying to download it I get
the message "internet explorer can not download. ISP reset."

This problem started when I uninstall the expired webroot software. When I
restared the pc, and logge on, there is the problem.

Please help me find solution to his.

Thanks
Bea
