Windows boots to menu continuasly

Ok folks, I had a power outage and now I get the screen that says select

Safe mode, Safe mode with networking, Safe mode with command prompt or last
known good confiuration , start windows normally.

Mu machine is a HP pavillion 510n with pre installed windows software, this
machine you cant make a boot disk and it didnt come with an xp disk, i can
access system recovery only roll it back to origionaly installed factory
settings which is basically reformatting. any suggestions without losing my
data?

You do not say whether or not you tried to open in Safe Mode. If you can,
then do so (i.e. close down, restart, and keep pressing F8 until Windows does
open in Safe Mode). The try using System Restore at a date prior to the
outage. It's worth a try. Let me know if it works for you.

Hi thanks for your reply.. I cant access anything from the menu, it just
comes back to the menu again, i managed to borrow an authentic windows XP
disk, which has diagnostics and boots on the disk, I fixed the problem which
was apparently a corrupt boot volume.
