Windows Backup Utility

I made a backup image of my C: drive on April 11, 2007, using Norton Ghost
9.0, and placed it on an external drive, the H: drive. In June I installed
Windows Backup Utility on my PC. I made a backup of C:\Documents and
Settings\Owner\My Documents on June 18, 2007, using Windows Backup Utility,
and placed it at H:\Backup Utility\Backup.bkf. This backup included
virtually everything I had created on my PC from April 11 to June 18. On
June 20, I had a problem with my PC that I could not solve. I used Norton
Ghost to return my C: drive to where it was on April 11. I then reinstalled
Windows Backup Utility and attempted to restore the backup of My Documents.
The newly installed Backup Utility does not recognize the backup at H:\Backup
Utility\Backup.bkf, which was created by its predecessor. When I open the
Backup Utility, go to Advanced Mode, then Restore and Manage Media tab,
nothing is shown that can be restored. When I go to H:\Backup
Utility\Backup.bkf and click on the folder or file I get a message that “This
file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action…â€
When I right-click it, I get a message that “Windows cannot open this file…â€
Does anyone know how I can recover the material in Backup.bkf and bring My
Documents folder up to date?.

My previous statements are now immaterial. I created a new backup with
Windows Backup Utility. I then opened the Restore tab and it listed the 6/18
backup and the 7/21 backup. I selected the folders in the 6/18 backup for
restoration. After performing the restoration, I found that the 7/21 backup
had been restored and the 6/18 backup no longer appeared on the H: drive. My
problem now is not how to open the 6/18 backup that was on the H: drive, but
how to recover the items it contained from the external H: drive. does anyone
have any suggestions?
