Windows and Office update installation failure

My windows updates have stopped installing. Being on automatic, they keep
loading and failing, so I turned off the automatic. I have scoured the
microsoft site, and tried most of the suggestions, but to no avail. I have
also tried System Restore. Here are 2 of the error codes I get
Error Code: 0x80070643
Error Code: 0x80070005
All this started about a week after a loaded down a free version of
Microsoft Office 2003, which I have till Mar. 31. Some updates did load
immediatley and successfully
after the Office download, but nothing since.
My old office program, now shows a Windows Installer error 1635, when i try
to use it.
I am concerned more about the Windows installation failure, because this
has worked so well for 4 years.

Placed this in the RUN command %windir%\SoftwareDistribution . This is the
history file of Windows Updates. Cleared the Data and Download files. Updates
began installing immediately
