Windows Product Activation and Restore Point

I've read Microsoft's material on this subject as well as Alex Nichol,
MS-MVP but didn't see my question addressed.

What happens with the original Windows Product Activation information on my
computer if I have to use a Restore Point beyond where the WPA occurred?

I know that the check of the hardware is done by my copy of Windows, itself,
at boot and I know that I have only used 80 of my allowable 120 days since
the original activation. Yet, what happens with the activation record
because of the Restore Point?

Thanks, Bert, for your response. And for listing your own System Restore
pages. This is a comprehensive seminar on what to do and how to do it, and
why or why not. I mainly look for "things I should take care of before
following a seemingly simple procedure" which doesn't always turn out to be
quite so simple. What you don't know *can* hurt you/your computer.

I've found valuable information I haven't found elsewhere: for instance,
the answer to my original question in your paragraphs "What's Restored and
What's Not" on your Tips & Fixes page.

WPA settings (Windows authentication information is not restored)

And your pages have pointed me to the System Events Viewer, and I can see
the problems that are occurring for which I will be using System Restore, as
soon as I find out the first occurrence.

Thank you!

Hi DSG,

You're welcome. I am glad you have found this site useful.

You are correct, "what you don't know *can* hurt". That's what makes
these newsgroups of valuable, simply ask before blindly making changes
or deleting things. <g>
